Romans’ latest auction bucks national trend

Romans' latest auction sale on 31st October once again bucked the national trend for shrinking auctions catalogues and declining sales success rates. The majority of the lots experienced strong interest and competitive bidding, with 83% of the properties sold.

Guide prices were achieved and in many cases exceeded by a wide margin, raising over £2.2 million for Romans’ delighted clients, and proving that property remains a reassuringly attractive investment in the local area.

Star lots included:

  • Three bedroom modern end-of-terrace house in Beaulieu Gardens, Blackwater, Camberley, requiring some modernisation, which sold for £170,000 - £55,000 above its guide price of £115,000
  • Three bedroom semi-detached double fronted house in Shinfield Road, Reading, also requiring modernisation, which exceeded its £190,000 guide price by £60,500, selling for £250,500
  • Period end-of-terrace three bedroom house in Woodstock Street, Reading, again requiring modernisation, which sold for £146,000 - £26,000 above its guide price of £120,000.

Another success worthy of note was a two bedroom apartment in a period property in Lambourne, near Hungerford, which had previously failed to sell at two London auction houses – Romans Auctions sold it with only ten days of marketing and at £26,000 above its guide price.

Entries are now invited for the final auction sale of the year on 14th December. The closing date is 16th November – email auctions@romans.co.uk for more details.
