Supporting local charities Romans has been an established presence in the local communities across our 28 branch network in Berkshire, Hampshire, Middlesex, Oxfordshire and Surrey for over 28 years. As a local business we feel strongly about giving back to our local communities and supporting the people who live here. One of the ways we do this is by fundraising for our nominated charity Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service. The charity was set up by Berkshire parents John and Fiona Devine in memory of their eight year old son Alexander, who died after four years of treatment for a brain tumour, with the aim of building Berkshire's first dedicated hospice for children with life threatening illnesses. Over the last few years we have set annual fundraising goals for the business and we’ve been amazed at the commitment and enthusiasm from employees across all departments. In 2015 alone we raised over £53,000 through a combination of challenging and imaginative events, including; marathons, go-karting, cake sales, golf competitions, cycling events, raffles, bodybuilding, sponsored walks, and auctions. In total, we’ve raised over £100,000 for Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice and this is a charity we will continue to support, alongside other local community groups. The great news is the build commenced in Autumn 2015, and the six-bedroom hospital is expected to take 16-18 months to complete.
