Supporting local charities

Latest News

Romans has been an established presence in the local communities across our 18 branch network in Berkshire, Surrey and Hampshire for 25 years.

As a local business we have a responsibility to give back to our communities and support the people who live there.

In 2012 we set a goal to raise money for our nominated charity, Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Service (ADCHS), which seeks to build Berkshire's first dedicated hospice for children with life threatening illnesses. The charity was set up by Berkshire parents John and Fiona Devine in memory of their eight year old son Alexander, who died after four years of treatment for a brain tumour.

We set our staff the goal of £20,000 to help the Devine family towards their goal. During the year everyone participated in a wide range of fundraising activities including a 40-mile bike trip around Romans' 18 branch network, fancy dress sponsored walks, a 'baked bean bath' sit in, a swimathon, a charity auction, sky dives, cake sales, a sponsored 'spooky sleepover' in a Victorian church, and many more...
After a year of fundraising we achieved a grand total of £23,500!

"We're delighted to have beaten our fundraising target for this fantastic charity, which works so hard to support seriously ill children and their families. When we first heard about the ADCHS, we were shocked to discover that there were so few hospice beds for children in the local area - so we're very proud of the way our employees have thrown themselves into helping the ADCHS deliver this much needed service."

Dale Norton, CEO of the Romans Group

"Romans have been absolutely brilliant - hats off to them! We're certainly learning a thing or two from them about fundraising and can't say enough good things about them!"
Julia Philipson, Administrator for the ADCHS
