Five key trends in new homes design

Author: Tim Foreman

Romans’ Land & New Homes Managing Director, Tim Foreman gives an overview of the latest trends in the new homes market. From incorporating the hottest interior design trends to catering to homeowners’ ever changing needs, the new homes market is constantly evolving and improving.

Gorgeous grey interiors

Grey is an amazingly versatile colour making it a firm favourite amongst interior designers. From living room walls, to sofas, kitchen cabinets and bathroom tiles – this calming, complimentary colour can be found in many new homes developments and show homes.

Bringing the outdoors in

Alfresco dining and garden parties are more popular than ever and gardens are high up on buyers’ lists of property must-haves. To cater for this, more and more developments are coming to the market with bi-fold glass doors and patios on the same level as the rest of the home blurring the lines between the outdoor and the indoor space.

Starter homes

It’s been well documented in the media that there is a lack of supply of affordable homes – to counteract this and ease the demand on the property market many developers offer Help to Buy schemes. For more detailed information on the different Help to Buy options available read our previous article.

Floating fixtures

Freestanding bath tubs and floating sinks are common across many luxury new homes developments. This simple yet effective design trend, adds an elegant hotel chic touch and makes the room appear larger, lighter and brighter – what’s not to love?!

Functional contemporary kitchens

Kitchens in new build homes are now incorporating clean lines and functional features such as soft close drawers and doors and clever storage solutions. Although function is a priority, the materials used are high-quality and appliances are often integrated and from leading brands giving a contemporary edge to an otherwise function led space.
