Investors, take advantage of the Green Park train station plans

Funding for a new train station in Reading is approved, as part of a multi-million pound project for improving transport links throughout Berkshire.

Green Park train station is near the Madejski Stadium, a new housing development and a business park; ideal for property investors looking to expand their portfolios.

“Thanks to the station approval it’s likely that houses in the RG2 and RG7 postcode areas will increase in value, even in the short term, as investors start to align their portfolio exposure appropriately” says Richard Chambers, Lettings Manager at Romans Reading.

The initial station plans include a bus interchange, park and ride, two car parks and a taxi rank; vastly improving the local transport links.

Although the train station’s construction won’t begin until October 2016 house prices will begin to rise due to the media attention and savvy landlords will pick up any property deals early on.”

The station is also good news for employees of companies based at the South Reading business park, including Huawei, Verizon, Cisco, HSBC, Nvidia, Texas Instruments, Symantec, Quintiles and Thames Water, as well as for football fans and other users of the Madejski Stadium complex.

Tony Page, Reading Borough's transport chief, who also chairs the Berkshire Local Transport Body, said: “It will be instrumental in unlocking the much needed housing and other facilities that are encompassed in the Green Park Village development.”
