Investing your Pension in Property

Author: Daniel Collis

In April, the UK is expected to experience a massive shake-up to the way pensions can be withdrawn, offering over 55’s a lot more flexibility, at a lower tax rate.

Romans SunningdaleOn Wednesday, 4th March, Romans is holding an Investing your Pension in Property event at its Sunningdale branch between 3pm and 6.30pm. The drop-in style event will be focused on the pension changes and offering expert advice to anyone interested in using their pension to invest in property.

The pension reforms will enable you to withdraw your entire pension fund in one go and only have to pay your marginal rate of income tax, compared to the 55% tax rate now. With large pots of money more easily available to pensioners Romans is predicting a surge of interest in property investment and the buy-to-let market.

Daniel Collis, Sales Manager at Romans Sunningdale, says: “Any investment comes with a risk so it’s vital you seek the right advice. We’re holding this event to help people make the right decisions when it comes to property investment.”

A Wealth Adviser and Mortgage Advisers from Romans Mortgage Services will be present, providing vital financial information about the changes.

Rental valuation

“Investing in property and becoming a buy-to-let landlord is increasingly popular as it offers you two ways of earning money; via the monthly rental income and via capital growth” comments Sue Winterbourne, Regional Lettings Manager at Romans.

“We’re already receiving enquiries from people looking into their investment options and wanting to know more, but it’s important that you don’t make a rash decision; although you will, potentially, have access to a large sum of money overnight, this is still your pension, and many people cannot afford for that money to be invested in the wrong place.”

Whether you’re an experienced landlord or you’re just starting to think about property investment, by attending this free event you will learn a lot more about the pension reforms, the local lettings market, as well as the bespoke services Romans Lettings offer landlords.
