Romans’ auctions are ‘going, going, gone’ to Reading

Romans first property auction of 2015 is set to be an exciting one with 19 lots on offer in its new surroundings, as the sales room moves to the Green Park Conference Centre, Reading.

The auction, taking place on 25th February at 1.30pm features a great selection of residential and commercial properties from across Berkshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Surrey.

The first auction of the year offers a rare opportunity to acquire an individual, detached house in a rural setting in Bradfield, to the west of Reading. With a guide price of £550,000, this four bedroom home on Scratchface Lane offers accommodation over three floors and gardens and paddocks occupying two acres in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Subject to planning permission, this property offers the potential for repair, extension or replacement.

Seven Reading properties are being auctioned, including a highly sought after detached bungalow on Bath Road with a guide price of £300,000, and benefitting from a 134ft south facing rear garden, good access to Reading town centre and excellent potential to extend, subject to planning permission. There are also three period terraced properties offering fantastic opportunities for buy-to-let investors and first time buyers. The first is a two bedroom terrace located on Charles Street, with a guide price of £165,000 and in need of complete modernisation; the second is a three bedroom property on Essex Street, with a guide of £180,000; and the third requires only minor improvement and is an end of terrace, three bedroom house on Stanley Grove, also with a guide price of £180,000, and offering landlords an estimated rental value of £1,100 pcm.

The tenant is believed to be 70 years old, and although internal viewings are not possible, the property is believed to consist of three bedrooms and a living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom.  “With a guide price of just £140,000 we’re expecting this property to be very popular on the day” adds Simon.

ABasingbourne Road, Fleetnother property with brilliant potential for extension is a detached four bedroom house, with a plot approaching ½ acre, on Basingbourne Road in Fleet. Located near the local shops and mainline station, with some modernisation this house could make a fantastic family home.

Simon comments on the new venue: “Every year we are attracting more customers to our auctions, and now the Romans Group has expanded to take in the Henley-on-Thames, Burnham, Sunningdale and Farnham areas, the need for a larger auction location was obvious.

“Green Park Conference Centre in south-central Reading is a bigger modern venue and better for Romans’ customers, being located just off the M4 Junction 11, in what is seen by many, as the commercial centre of the Thames Valley.”
