Romans march from Reading to Bath to raise funds for charity partners

Author: Vanessa Foot

On Friday 27th, Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th April, Tony Gibson, Kiersty Sims, John Sumner, Peter Loverdos, Derek Mee, Richard O’Neill and Peter Fuller of Romans Estate Agents and Leaders Romans Group will undertake a Long Distance Walking Challenge and walk from our Reading office to our recently acquired office in Bath.

The team have taken on this challenge in order to raise money for three of our charity partners, Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice, Daisy’s Dream and Sue Ryder.

The walking group will set out from Reading around 8am on the Friday and will follow the Kennet & Avon towpath as it winds its way through Berkshire, Wiltshire and Somerset passing through Reading, Thatcham, Newbury, Hungerford, Pewsey, Devizes, Bradford-upon-Avon and Bath itself. With a following wind, a good degree of luck and your support, they hope to arrive in Bath around 6pm Sunday evening having raised a substantial amount of money for our charity partners.

Romans’ Culture and Community Engagement Manager Vanessa Foot explains; “This is a significant challenge as the team will be walking the distance of a marathon every day for three consecutive days! The group are motivated by their desire to raise funds for three of our charity partners whose work is invaluable to the communities they support.”

Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice was set up by Berkshire parents John and Fiona Devine in memory of their eight year old son Alexander, who died after four years of treatment for a brain tumour, with the aim of building Berkshire's first dedicated hospice for children with life threatening illnesses.

Daisy’s Dream is a Berkshire based charity which supports children and their families who have been affected by the life threatening illness or bereavement of someone close to them.

Sue Ryder is a national charity supporting people with complex needs and life-threatening illnesses both across the UK and internationally.
