Can I market my property without a HIP?
You cannot begin marketing your home until you receive your HIP.
Government legislation states that most residential properties require a HIP, and they must be produced correctly to the right standard - if a HIP has non-compliant content, a solicitor could delay or stop the sale progressing until the correct information is provided. You’ll need a Home Information Pack (HIP) to legally market your property.

So what does a HIP contain?
- Property Information Questionnaire (PIQ) - Download here
- Sale statement (summarising the terms of sale)
- Evidence of title (proof of ownership)
- Standard searches (i.e. local authority enquiries, and a drainage and water search)
- An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)
- Commonhold information (where appropriate)
- Copy of the lease (where appropriate)

Once you’ve instructed Romans to sell your home, we will ensure your HIP is processed with the utmost priority – usually within 1-4 days. Our approved HIP supplier is Live.
