Why survey your new home?

Buying a property is the single biggest purchase you’re likely to make, so it makes sense to get a surveying expert to check its true condition first as not all faults are visible to the untrained eye. Are there other, less obvious structural problems? Is there evidence of wet rot? Has there been any subsidence? Do parts of the roof need replacing?

As a home buyer, we offer two main types of surveys:

1. HomeBuyer Report

Ideal for more conventional residential property built within the past 100 years. It provides extensive information about the condition of the property and is ideal if you are buying or selling a house, flat or bungalow, that is built from common building materials and in reasonable condition.

The RICS HomeBuyer Report (Survey) gives you:

  • Clear ‘traffic light’ ratings showing the condition of the property
  • Advice for your legal advisors and details of urgent defects
  • Advice on defects that may affect the value of the property

2. Building Survey

Building Surveys are suited to older properties, or properties which have undergone major extension or alteration.

We also advise you to proceed with a Building Survey if you plan on undertaking a large building project.
