We have been using Romans for 6 years and have been fully satisfied by their previous service.
On this occasion their initial contact and engagement with us was very much in line with expectations. However, after the first three weeks there was a measurable drop off in service; communication with us; re-marketing of our property and regular updates with regards to viewings of the property were not forthcoming. On several occasions despite us warning our existing tenants that Romans would be conducting viewings it appeared to us that the tenant was not kept appraised or updated themselves on appointments and this at times led to some irritable exchanges we believe.
Finally, we were offered various levels of their 'managed service' but never commited to anything other than our existing part managed/rent collection only service. At some point an assumption seems to have been made that we wished to change our agreement but no formal notification of pricing structure was provided to us. The first we were aware was in the first invoice after our new tenants moved in and a greater value of fee was deducted from our monthly account than previously.
We had heard that Romans have bought or taken on a different local Letting Agency and added their staff to their portfolio. It is a shame but I think that this is maybe what has let them down insofar as the new lettings team have not been 'Romanised' into the new ways of working.
